The Brazilian Blowout Acai Professional treatment is all the rage and probably the most talked about Brazilian Keratin treatment on the market.
Why? Because it is controversial and it delivers. Period!
The celebrities love it and therefore so should you, right 🙂 But not all of us have a the benefit of a celebrity budget given that the treatment costs around $300 on average.
So many people are asking can I perform this keratin treatment at home and save some money? The simple answer is not really!
Brazilian Blowout is a salon exclusive product that is not sold to the general public. That said you can always find black market solutions on Ebay, I see it all the time. But it is rather expensive by itself and if you don’t know what your doing you could really screw up your hair.
Sure there are Brazilian Blowout training videos on Youtube that show you how but we don’t condone it.
So how can I get that Brazilian Blowout look at home? Well there are a few products you can use to help tame the frizz and give you a day or two of satisfaction, however nothing will replace what the actual treatment can provide for you. Trust us we have tried!
Anti-Frizz Shampoo & Conditioner
- Brazilian Blowout Acai aftercare products include shampoo, conditioner, smoothing serum and thermal straightening balm. All of these products will help tame frizz and shorten styling time. However, they will not take the place of the treatment itself which lasts up to 3 months. But for an every couple of days solution you can try these Brazilian products. Avg $35
- AVEDA Smooth Infusion product line delivers up to 60% reduction in frizz and smoothing shine while hydrating and resisting humidity for up to 12 hours. The Smooth Infusion Kit offers shampoo, conditioner, style prep and glossing straightener $87.
- DIY with Olive Oil, Jojoba or coconut oil every two weeks to dry hair. Simply shampoo, towel dry with moisturizing conditioner or apply olive/sunflower oil and comb it through. You can then wither wrap the hair with a hot towel (15 min) or use a hair dryer for about ten minutes.
- We have heard that Pantene Pro-V Straightening Creme or Smoothing Balm has some positive results and at just $5.99 it might be worth trying. However we have not tried it so don’t take our word for it. In our professional experience you usually get what you pay for 🙂
At Home Keratin Treatments
There are a host of at home smoothing treatments from name brands like Bumble & Bumble, Organix, Garnier and Suave to name a few. They promise brazilian keratin treatment like results in an at home treatment.
While we have not personally tried them, according to Eva Chen, beauty director for Teen Vogue “you shouldn’t expect salon quality results.” If you want a temporary, lengthy solution then at home keratin treatments will help you temporarily. However for a more permanent everyday solution, the professional in salon treatment is hands down the only way to go.
